2024 Goals

It’s a new year, which means it’s time for another goal post and look back at my goals from last year to see how they went XD 

Let’s get into it!

Now to see how much of it I actually did! (So much of this changed over the first few months 😂 but we’ll see)

• Finish the first draft of my novel!

I did this! I finished my first novel, Depths of Darkness right before May at 60K words! Now, it’s a little…cringy and I can hardly make myself re-read it, but I finished it!

• Maybe get the second draft finished!

Nope! I never even touched Depths of Darkness after I finished it 😂. The only thing I wrote after it was my novelette, Shining Light, set in the same world (which you can read on my email list), fanfiction, and a bunch of short stories before November. So, no I didn’t get the second draft finished, but you never know, maybe I’ll come back to it one day. 

• Participate in NaNoWriMo!

Sure did! And I hit 50K words!!! It was one of the most enjoyable things I have ever done and I got half of a pretty good novel out of it! 

• Plot and Outline a new novel!

Did this too! I outlined (*cough* and preoutlined for the preoutlne before that) a bunch! 

• Reach 100 followers on my email list 

I didn’t reach this goal, I only got to about 52 subscribers this past year. (But keep your eyes peeled, ‘cause I’m planning something for the next few months that may have to do with this *winks*)

• Write at least 15 Short Stories

I didn’t count, but I am pretty sure I reached this goal if not more! And it was one of the most fun things I have ever done! It really helped me learn how to write shorter pieces well! 

• Post around 60 blog posts

Probably reached this *shrugs* not really sure, but I did post consistently about every week most of the year, except for one month when I went on vacation! I also found my niche for blog posts, which has really helped me form a schedule and plan!

• And write at least 100 words every day besides Sunday!

There were a few months I slacked off on this, when I was too busy or didn’t have the energy or projects to work on, but overall, I did write more than 100 words every day! It boosted how much I write every day! 

That’s what my year looked like! I reached most of my goals (and forgot about some XD), but it was amazing! I learned so much and had so much fun! 

So, what do I think this year is going to look like? How ‘bout I show you in a bullet-point list? 😂

• Learn how to Draft/Rewrite

I have yet to draft a long project, so my main goal is to finish TSfA then rewrite the whole thing. I really love the project and if I can get the second draft polished up, it would be amazing!

• Enter a Short Story Competition

This isn’t one of my biggest priorities, but it’s something I would absolutely love to do. I haven’t done this before and doing this would help me along my writing journey a little more. 

• Reach 100 Subscribers on Email List

Yep, my goal from last year! But instead of walking blindly into it, I’m forming a plan to reach it. I really hope I can reach this goal. 

• Research Publishing a bit More/Practice Marketing

I’ve been doing this a little bit, but I want to boost how much I do it. I want to start getting into the more serious steps, even if it might be a while till I do publish.
