Hello everyone! Today I got the pleasure of interviewing one of my good friends, Lilly N. Belle! Hope you enjoy!

- Tell us a little bit about yourself and your writing journey!
Sure thing! I am a fifteen year old author, with a dream of giving teens and young people a practical, biblical worldview through writing. I fulfill that dream through writing stories, and by posting articles on my blog.
- How long have you been writing?
I’ve been writing seriously for almost exactly two years. I’ve always loved story-telling, but when I was little the idea of writing those stories bored me to tears. Then, a friend of mine started a club for writers, and asked me if I’d like to join. Well, I thought that if I was going to join a writing club, I would probably have to actually write something. Over the next few months, I fell in love with the magic of the written word, and since then it’s been a major passion of mine.
- Where are you in your writing journey right now? And what are you currently working on?
Currently, I’m focusing on growing my brand as an author through my blog, and working to improve my writing craft and story-telling. I mostly write articles right now, but I am in the planning stages for a few novel concepts that I’m very excited about! I’m also drafting a novella that I hope to self-publish within the next year or so.
- What is your favorite part about writing?
I think my favorite thing about writing is how I get to put the ideas and stories in my head down on paper, so that they
actually feel real. As I said earlier, I’ve always loved story-telling, and writing gave me an outlet to put the stories I came up with into some form of existence.
- Who are your favorite writers?
I think some of my favorite writers would have to be L.M. Montgomery, W. Bruce Cameron, and Jennifer A. Nielsen. These writers are so admirable in their writing craft and their characterizations, and they inspire me to write powerful stories that could touch a reader’s heart.
- What is one piece of advice you would give other writers?
The best piece of writing advice that I can give to any writer is what I like to call: The Dory Method.
You know, “Just keep swimming, just keep swimming!” Well, if you replace that with: “Just keep writing, just keep writing!” you’ll get a wonderful motto for all your writing endeavors. Sometimes writing isn’t going to feel particularly fun, no matter how much you love it! In those moments, the best thing you can do is sit down, and force yourself to type just a paragraph or two. And the amazing thing about this? The more you write, the more motivated you are to write more.
So just keep writing! It pays off big-time in the end.
- What resources have helped you in your writing?
Here are a few of the most helpful resources I’ve found when it comes to writing.
- The YOUNG WRITER’S WORKSHOP, which is an ongoing workshop for young writers that includes an interactive writing community, personal advice from professional authors, and lessons about writing and becoming an author that are absolutely vital to a writer’s journey! This is where I learned most of what I know, and where my dream of becoming an author really began to grow!
- ABBIE EMMONS on YouTube is another favorite! Abbie breaks down everything you need to know about characters, dynamics, and writing motivation in her videos.
- DEAR ALLY, HOW DO YOU WRITE A BOOK? Is a book all about writing by bestselling YA author, Ally Carter. Ally breaks down all the fundamental basics of writing in this book, and it’s a great read whether you’re a beginning or a long-time writer!
- Where can we find you online?
You can find my blog and more about me as an author on my website: lillynbelle.com. And you can sign up for my email list HERE.
- Anything else you would like to add?
Thank you so much for having me!
